"For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” II Thessalonians 3:10

Blessed November 15, 2022 By Dr. George Bing

Some people forget where they came from. Very few people in this world were born with a silver spoon. Regardless of your economic status, we all have a responsibility to help others that are less fortunate than we are! The Bible says” As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10. The Church is the place that we attend to draw closer to the Lord, and there is a community of people that we build a comradery of fellowship.

If anyone is in trouble or in need we are supposed to be there to help them. It may be physical, mental, medical, or financial support. If we can help them and especially those that are a part of our Fellowship in the Church as the Spirit of God leads us we contribute to their cause. Are we supposed to help everyone who's looking for a handout? Not without discernment! Are we supposed to support people's bad habits such as tobacco, or controlled substances? Of course not. Are we supposed to continue helping out people who are physically able to work and refuse? I think not! Can I get an amen?

The Apostle Paul said " For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” II Thessalonians 3:10. If a person is physically able to work and refuses to seek employment; supporting them is not helping them. There are people including many children that are not able to help themselves to have a better life. They don't have enough food or clean water. There are people in this world who were dealt a bad hand in life. God blesses us so that we are equipped to help others. A homeless man in downtown New York City taught me this Scripture."Blessed is he that considereth the poor, the Lord will deliver him in the time of trouble. Psalms 41:1. What are your thoughts?
