As a Pastor, I have been entrusted with the incredible duty of guiding and helping individuals with their relationship with God. Establishing a strong bond with your Pastor or any Spiritual leader is vital, and it is natural to desire a meaningful relationship with them, however, it should be done with the proper perspective. We often recognize the numbers of those we frequently converse with when they call us. Their name and number are likely saved on our phones, and we can easily identify their voice. Even if they were to call from a different number, we would still immediately recognize their familiar voice. In fact, their number doesn't even need to be programmed into our phones for us to recognize them.
It's wonderful to have that kind of relationship with your spouse, children, parent, or Spiritual leader such as a Pastor. However, the most significant relationship and voice to recognize is that of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I have encountered individuals who have shared their experiences of believing that God confirmed a decision they prayed about, only to realize that it was their own flawed judgment.
Now, due to our flawed judgment, fear may have settled in, preventing us from seeking the Lord's guidance. We must not allow fear to hinder us from consulting the Lord. This fear is a tactic employed by the enemy, who is the ultimate deceiver. We must seek the Lord's guidance, especially before embarking on any new venture. Prayer is an essential aspect of our relationship with God. It is through prayer that we communicate with Him. In the book of Proverbs, the wise writer King Solomon reminds us of the importance of trusting in the Lord wholeheartedly. The Bible says “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy paths.“ Proverbs 3:5-6.
