I've Fallen and I Can't Get Up?

Holy Spirit, March 31, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Everyone in this world needs someone to help them from time to time. Remember the commercial years ago:" I've fallen and I can't get up?" Like the lady in that commercial; we're all going to face some things in life that we're going to need someone to help us! The Bible says "Two are better than one; because they have a better reward for their labor." Ecclesiastes 4:9. If I can't swim I can still throw you a life jacket if you're in trouble. If I can't reach you I can try to catch you if you fall. If you need someone to talk to when you're lonely; I want to be available. Yet despite my desire to help you; obstacles can prevent me from doing so. I'm limited, but there is someone I know who is unlimited.

The Apostle Paul said “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who then can be against us?” Romans 8:31. The Lord is for us and when we choose to put our hope in Him; He will be all to us that we allow Him to be. The Holy Spirit is The Comforter. The Comforter or paraclete is a helper, encourager, and counselor. No one in their right mind goes to court without legal representation. The counselor advises you before you go before the Judge. If you're smart you're going to display total respect and reverence whenever you do speak to him.

Most of the talking is done by your counselor. When we pray, the Holy Spirit is our Counselor, and we already have shared with Him about the situation we're facing. He knows the Law (God's Word) better than we will ever know, and we trust the paraclete (Helper) to free us! No obstacles can keep HIM from encouraging and helping us, praise God! "And I will pray the Father, and He shall send you another Comforter; that He may abide with you forever." John 14:16. What are your thoughts?
