“ For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.” Ephesians 5:23-24

Most brethren know that their wives need to be loved by them. In the words of the great Marvin Gaye" How sweet it is to be loved by you." It should've been a woman speaking about her man! A woman’s primary need is to be loved and this is why the husband is commanded to love his wife in that way.” Husbands love your wives’ even as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it.” Ephesians 5:25.

But a man doesn't really need to be loved by his wife as much as he needs to be respected. “Nevertheless, let everyone of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.” Ephesians 5:33. It's not easy to honor someone who doesn't display love to you. But when you honor that man by respecting him, it's only a matter of time before you have him eating out of your hand. Men want to feel like they're your superhero and honoring them is a huge step towards that!

So how do you honor your husband? Never call him out in public. If he's wrong there's always a time and place to correct him without embarrassing him. Always seek his opinion in decision-making and remind him that the final decision is his. It’s always good to hand in with your spouse as you consult the Lord’s guidance. Your husband should be your provider, protector, and pastor, and you are affirming it when you honor him! “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the Church: and he is the savior of the body. Therefore as the Church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.” Ephesians 5:23-24. What are your thoughts?
