Honor: October 6, 2022 By Dr. George Bing

Honoring your spouse is the most important relationship to show honor other than your relationship with the Lord. So how can I honor my spouse? You should never defend anyone's wrong, but the Bible says "love covereth a multitude of sins. “I Peter 4:8. If your spouse is wrong, it is your responsibility to protect their integrity. In layman's terms; you should not be the one to share a fault or failure of theirs with other people. I venture to say that if they are at fault and it’s brought to your attention; you should not put gasoline on a fire that spreads gossip, especially when your spouse is the prime subject.

” The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.” Proverbs 18:8. To cover one's sin means that if they're wrong, it wasn't you who told it or spread it. You will be the last person to have a negative thing to say about your spouse. If they're at fault you're covering their transgressions by praying and not saying! “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1.

My aunt Francena is the best example in my life of doing that as I shared in recent teaching this year. There's no doubt that she was aware of my uncle's transgressions, and yet she never said a negative word about him. She loved him until the day she passed and I guarantee you that she prayed without ceasing for him. Now that's an honor!” Pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17. What are your thoughts?
