“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28.

Honor: October 13, 2022 By Dr. George Bing

We have been talking about honoring everyone whose honor is due, and that we should. We discussed in a previous Devotional the importance of honoring the Lord, but are there other ways to honor Him. It's difficult to honor someone that has misused, misled, or misunderstood you, isn't it? Yet the Lord allowed it?

Once you are in His perfect will whatever you experience has to go through God’s Hands. God is too wise to make a mistake and too just to do wrong. Therefore, we know that the ugly things that happened to us God never caused, but he allowed them! “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28.

So how can I honor a God with this kind of resume? We can honor Him by being a sacrifice for Him. Even when we don’t understand what the Lord is doing we should bless His name. Bless is a word that has a broad yet complex definition contingent upon the text. The meaning here is “to speak highly of!” In the Old Testament, the Israelites used animals that had to be slain before they were considered to be a complete sacrifice. We too have to be slayed spiritually, because the old man has to die. It is a daily process.

Human beings are supposed to be a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service. We all know that it's easier to be a dead sacrifice than a living one. We tend to not like the pain or dying that has to be endured. I will discuss in the next devotional how to be a living sacrifice.” I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1. What are your thoughts?
