Hope in His Mercy

Blessed are the merciful!

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of February, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the topic of #HOPE. The Bible says "hope deferred maketh the heart sick." What does that mean? The world oftentimes speaks of hope as wishful thinking, is this the same hope the bible teaches? Stay connected to learn more.

"Behold, the eyes of the Lord are upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy;" Psalms 33:18

Hope February 3, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Most of us who have been driving long enough have experienced the nightmare of being pulled over by a law enforcement officer. Being a former law enforcement I have experienced issuing a citation and receiving one as well. Therefore, I certainly can tell you from my own experience that it's a terrible feeling when you know that you might be issued a citation! “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7.

I will share a true-life incident that occurred years ago. I will not reveal the identity of the person involved to protect the guilty. A young man was traveling from Florida to Dallas and noticed that a trooper had his lights on behind him. He too was on the job and so he was confident that he would not be issued a citation. He already had his shield displayed as the trooper walked up to his window. Good afternoon sir; license and registration, please!

I see your shield, who do you work for the trooper inquired. New York! Well, that's nice, 60 miles an hour is strictly enforced here in Louisiana and I clocked you at 72 miles an hour. Step out of the car, please! The trooper wrote the ticket out and advised the young man of the 3 options he had to take care of the $166.00 citation. The young man still kind of in shock; told the trooper to have a nice day. Now sitting in the car with the citation in hand, and having prayed for mercy; the trooper walks back up to the driver's window. "Behold, the eyes of the Lord are upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy;" Psalms 33:18. Was he now going to issue another citation? Tune in tomorrow to find out. Psalms 33:18 What are your thoughts?
