"And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" John 16:8.

Holy Spirit, March 11, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

There are some unfortunate things that we will experience in this world. When we do things that we consciously know are wrong; the feeling of shame is ever present. A person who steals for the first time will more than likely have a sense of guilt shortly afterwards. A person having an extramarital affair for the first time will more than likely feel guilty as well. Even when a gangster pulls the trigger on someone for the first time; they more than likely wrestle with the feeling of shame. That's the first time, but after that it's easier to do it the next time.

Remember Charles Bronson in the movie Death Wish? He felt justified when he took out those crooks. The same group of people had murdered his wife and violated his daughter. He was determined to get even with them. The first time he pulled the trigger on some thugs in the movie; he actually began to regurgitate afterwards. The reason being is that he felt guilty doing it. "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin," John 16:8. This is the first work of the Holy Spirit, and when we do wrong; He gives us the enablement to do right! What are your thoughts?
