What Does it Mean to Commit Blasphemy of The Holy Spirit?

For the entire month of March, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the HOLY SPIRIT, the third person of the Trinity. Jesus said "I will pray the Father, that He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever;" What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Ghost? Stay connected to learn more.

"Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men." Matthew 12:31

Holy Spirit, March 16, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Have you ever heard about the unpardonable sin? If you murder someone you can be forgiven. If you perform a horrific crime such as molestation or rape; you can be forgiven for it. The Bible says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousnessss.” 1 John 1:9. There are consequences for committing sin, and when the sin is a crime, you can expect jail time. Yes, there is a price to pay for sin, but there is one sin that's without forgiveness. Blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is an unpardonable sin. But what does it mean to commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit?

This has been a controversial and sensitive subject. If a person speaks against the Holy Ghost, it's disrespecting God's Spirit. If a person continues to disrespect the Holy Ghost; unbelief of Him has taken root in the heart of that person. That root of unbelief is like weeds in the garden of a person's heart without the presence of the Gardener (The Husbandman) to uproot them. They will ultimately destroy a person's faith and cause them to not desire to repent. I believe that because if there's no confession of sin; there can be no forgiveness.

In a recent daily devotional, I mentioned how it becomes easier for a person operating with a sinful nature to commit more serious acts as they become convinced more and more that what they’re appearing to get away with will not eventually be discovered. Truth be told their consciousness becomes unsensitized over time. This is a door that no one should consider entering! "Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men." Matthew 12:31.
