Have you ever been sick and tried to remedy the problem yourself? You had a headache and aspirin didn't work. You had a sore throat and the Sucrets or lozenges just didn't do the job. You were cramping on the inside and nothing was decreasing the discomfort! You finally sort medical attention and the doctor prescribed medication, but you were also advised that you're going to need surgery. Oh my, is it that serious? Just like in your natural body when you can't resolve issues without consulting a doctor; spiritually we need Dr. Jesus to diagnose the problem.
When our situation is serious, we have the Chief Surgeon who can cut out the cancer of sin from our lives that eventually will spread. Whenever you’re not feeling well and the potential of it being more than a common cold, it’s a good practice to seek a physician immediately. If the diagnosis is cancer we all know that the sooner it is treated and removed from the inside, the better chance we have to live free of it. We know that cancer cells can and will make every effort to metastasize. In layman’s terms that means to spread throughout the entire body. Sin is like cancer, and when we realize the potential that it can cause it’s more than a good practice to rid ourselves of anything keeping us from living an abundant life; in which obeying God’s Word will do!
The Word is hidden in your heart and because of the Word being there: the Holy Spirit puts a do not enter sign up against sin! A surgeon's knife may hurt initially, but it's used just like the Word is, and that's to rid us of what ultimately would've destroyed us, praise God! The writer of Hebrews says "For the Word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword." Hebrews 4:12. What are your thoughts?
