“A talebearer revealeth secrets: But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.” Proverbs 11:13.

Love December 5, 2022 By Dr. George Bing

When you love someone you don't want to hear any negative news about who you love. You're like the wicked witch in The Wiz. You can identify with her famous line "don't nobody bring me no bad news!" That's minus the monkeys dancing! ”Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out; So where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.” Proverbs 26:20. How do you respond when you receive gossip about someone? Is it one of the fastest ways for news to travel? Telephone, telegraph, television, or tell you some gossip on someone? That's not a byproduct of love! The Bible says “A talebearer revealeth secrets: But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.” Proverbs 11:13.

If bad news is released about a person, love says I'm not going to repeat it. If someone shares something derogatory about another person; love says let's pray for them, and you're sincere. If you discover some unpleasant news about someone. it's never revealed by you. Why? Because love refuses to be a spiritual garbage truck. Have you ever visited someone’s home that carried a strange offensive odor to it? The people who reside in that home go about their daily routine if everything is in order. If you were to advise them of the offensive odor in the atmosphere; they would be offended by what they most likely would view as a false accusation. This is called house-A-Tosis. Gossip has the same kind of effect.

When you get used to being in the midst of it and do not dismiss yourself; you eventually become immune to it. Love covers a multitude of sins. "And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” I Peter 4:8. Who are you covering today? We pray and don’t say! What are your thoughts?
