God Hates Lying

If you are a child of the King, you should hate lying as well

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of June, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on The Truth. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Does the truth set you free or make you free? Learn the difference by following and reading this month's devotionals.

King David says “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: He that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.” Psalms 101:7

June 21, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Many of us have heard that God hates liars. That is not exactly accurate. Truth be told, God hates lying, but he loves people who lie. The Lord wants us to be free from lying and even stretching the truth as we discussed yesterday. You don’t have to be a star to be in God’s show. Truth be told in this life Jesus Christ is the only real superstar. We simply are called upon to reflect the Light (Truth) of Christ to everyone whose paths we cross. If you are a child of the King, you should hate lying as well. In life, we have and will continue to see the residue of what happens when lies are discovered. The Bible says “For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.” Luke 12:2.

The Lord himself was addressing hypocrisy and in the Bible, a hypocrite was known as an actor. I will address this subject in a future Devotional. The psalmist of Israel and great King David expressed his dislike for people who lie. King David says “He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: He that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.” Psalms 101:7. Yes, it was King David who was infuriated when stating” A liar will not tarry in his sight.” I can imagine that the king thought about his own life and the pain that not being truthful eventually causes. He probably recalled how he had Uriah the mercenary (foreign soldier) purposely placed in the front line to have him killed, and then covered up his adulterous affair with Bathsheba.

When we are delivered from sinful acts ourselves I believe we become more sensitive about those strongholds when we see another person being deceived the same way that we were. Also, David was a man of repentance and I believe when he was in the company of people who refused to change; he made up his mind that he didn’t want to be around people that were continually sinning. To him, this was total wickedness and we should see this spirit the same way. “Lying lips are an abomination unto the LORD, But they that deal truly are his delight.” Proverbs 12:22. What are your thoughts?
