Glorify the Lord With Thanksgiving

A songwriter is simply a vehicle, vessel, or conduit for the Lord to bring music through.

In this special edition daily devotional, we invite you to embrace the spirit of Thanksgiving and cultivate a heart overflowing with gratitude towards the Lord.

The Bible says “Sing unto Him a new song; Play skillfully with a loud noise” (Psalms 33:3).

On today’s Daily devotional, we will continue our discussion on giving thanksgiving through music specifically songwriting. In a recent daily devotional, we addressed the fact that songwriting is a unique gift that is a gift that perhaps the most unheralded musical gift. The reason is that songwriters are usually in the background. Rarely does the person who wrote the music or the words to a work is the one to record it. It also is assumed by most listeners of music that the recording artist is also the writer of the work.

As a songwriter myself I tend to scrutinize information on recording artists and original songwriters more so than the average person. A songwriter is simply a vehicle, vessel, or conduit for the Lord to bring music through. The Bible says “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17). The author of every gift certainly including songwriting is the Lord and as a songwriter, it is an honor to allow music to flow through my vessel. The Bible says “Sing unto Him a new song; Play skillfully with a loud noise” (Psalms 33:3).

Another outstanding gift is the anointing to be able to play the music that the Lord has given you as a songwriter. A bonus is to also be a lyricist and be able to play what the Lord has given you for the world to be empowered by. The writer should glorify the Lord with thanksgiving, and through this gift of song, the world should give the Lord thanks. “Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof”

(‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42‬:‭10‬). What are your thoughts?
