In today's daily devotional, we will explore the act of giving thanks to the Lord through music. God has graciously bestowed His body of believers with various gifts, which are accessible to Him for the advancement of His Kingdom. Today's discussion will focus specifically on the role of music within the Church. Many individuals possess the gift of playing instruments such as the keyboard, piano, and organ. Others are skilled in playing the guitar, either as the lead or bass. Some have a talent for playing the drums, like my son who began taking lessons at a young age. Additionally, there are individuals with special skills in playing the violin, such as my daughter, who also excels in playing the keyboard and singing.

The tambourine is an instrument that requires proper shaking and rhythm, and many skilled individuals can play it proficiently. One notable example from the Bible is Miriam, a prophetess and sister of Aaron, who used the tambourine to inspire others to join in playing and dancing. The Bible recounts, "And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women went out after her with tambourines and dancing" (Exodus 15:20).

Numerous instruments have found their place in the Church, and people express their praise to God through the music produced by these instruments. Today, I would like to focus on the gift of songwriting, which is a special talent that many individuals have been blessed with.

Barry Manilow, a renowned songwriter, has recorded a song that resonates with the hearts of all songwriters. The title of the song is "I Write the Songs," and its lyrics capture the essence of the songwriter's craft. Tomorrow, the Lords will, we’ll delve deeper into this fascinating topic. As the psalmist declares, "I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee" (Psalm 144:9). What are your thoughts?
