Through singing, the Lord invites believers to proclaim His greatness.

In this special edition daily devotional, we invite you to embrace the spirit of Thanksgiving and cultivate a heart overflowing with gratitude towards the Lord.

“Sing unto God, Sing praises to his name: Extol him that rideth upon the heavens By his name JAH, and rejoice before him” (Psalm 68:4).

In today’s Daily devotional, we will continue our discussion on giving thanksgiving to the Lord through songs and specifically with our voices. The Lord throughout Scripture from the Old into the New Testament encourages and desires us to praise and give Him thanks through singing. The Bible says “Sing unto the LORD; for He hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth” (Isaiah 12:5).

Through singing, the Lord invites believers to proclaim His greatness. As expressed by the psalmist and King David of Israel, “Sing unto God, Sing praises to his name: Extol him that rideth upon the heavens By his name JAH, and rejoice before him” (Psalm 68:4). The subsequent verse in the psalm provides a compelling reason for us to sing praises to the Lord and reminds us of His character and the roles He fulfills in our lives. “A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, Is God in his holy habitation” (Psalm 68:5).

If you have experienced the loss of a father, you can truly understand the significance of this passage. Similarly, if you have never had the opportunity to know your earthly father or had a strained relationship with him, you can also relate to its message. Even if you lack a father figure in your life, it is wise to seek a relationship with Jesus in that capacity. You will joyfully sing praises to Him, knowing that He will provide care and protection for you. As the psalmist affirms, “I will sing unto the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being” (Psalm 104:33). What are your thoughts?
