Feed the Flock of God

Pastors have an important assignment!

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of May, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will explore the most vital subject to discuss, and that is The Word! The Bible says "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword," How does that apply to our daily walk?

“Let the Elders that rule well be worthy of double honor, especially they that labour in the Word and doctrine. I Timothy 5:17.

There are many important assignments given to diverse groups, organizations, and individual people in this world. There are many people holding prestigious positions including government officials who have the awesome responsibility of establishing new legislation or changing existing ones. Teachers certainly do not get enough credit for their contributions to our lives to educate us in the areas of life in which we are called. I should know because my wife is a teacher. Law enforcement officers also hold a great responsibility in enforcing the law and protecting people from wickedness including people robbing and taking innocent lives daily. But there is one office that I believe has more responsibility than anyone including the President of the United States, and that is a Pastor.

The Pastor holds the most responsible office because they must give account for the souls of those who are members of the local body of Believers that they have been assigned to under-shepherd. The Apostle Peter says “feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind” I Peter 5:2. Pastors should have a true desire to serve and not doing it as primarily as an occupation to be paid, but this is a calling! The Pastor should always be prepared to serve a spiritually good meal if you will as the Word will do all the Work in and of itself when it’s delivered in the proper order.

The Bible says “so shall my Word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11. In other words, God is saying that His Word will do exactly what He intends it to do each time the Minister preaches it! This is why the Word we receive at times is a Rhema Word just for us when we need it. The Word Himself knows just what we need and when we need it! Pastors should be encouraged when laboring in the Word. “Let the Elders that rule well be worthy of double honor, especially they that labour in the Word and doctrine. I Timothy 5:17. That’s the Word! What are your thoughts?
