"For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).

Today, we will continue our Daily Devotional discussion on the fear of the Word of God being rejected when we speak it. There is no doubt that when many people are called to preach the Word, they have a fear of not being well received. We have recently discussed the importance of the Word going out and not returning void, but it must be a Word that God Himself has sent through the preacher. Sadly, there are many people whom I will refer to as Pharisee speakers because they add their own personal convictions and impose them on others. Some even have hidden agendas and use them to control and take advantage of innocent and naive people. The wise writer, King Solomon, says, "Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy" (Proverbs 31:9).

Too many people have been taken advantage of because of their lack of knowledge of God's Word. Some individuals who have gained their trust have twisted the Word of God in order to abuse and exploit those who do not know any better. This passage in Proverbs about protecting the poor is undoubtedly what the Lord has called me and many other pastors to do! In light of that, there will be times when we are called upon to bring a Word, and people may not be interested in hearing it at that moment. The Apostle Paul addresses this, saying to his young protégé Timothy, “preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (II Timothy 4:2).

This is a farewell charge from the Apostle Paul, and all of us need to adhere to it. Some people will not like the unadulterated Word of God and would rather hear words that cater to their fleshly desires. But why? Let's explore this further tomorrow, the Lord's will. "For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12). What are your thoughts?
