Exaggerating the Truth

Are you stretching the truth?

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of June, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on The Truth. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Does the truth set you free or make you free? Learn the difference by following and reading this month's devotionals.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed!” John 8:36

Have you ever known someone who always tended to exaggerate the truth? I’ll call it stretching the truth. It could be about an event that they attended, and what might’ve occurred there. It could be what they accomplished in a life event. Some guys may even boast about how many women they have slept with. This is called the Napoleon Complex. Many people believe that Napoleon complex which is also known as small man syndrome is only attributed to people who are not very tall. They try to make up for their lack of height by driving a humongous truck in size with large wheels. But Napoleon's complex also can extend to compensate for social shortcomings.

When a person is insecure about who they are because of a lack of self-esteem; they get accustomed to stretching the truth, and it’s done because it is believed that they will be accepted that way. There have been people in Ministry that will tell you how many people came to Christ where they ministered, and the number they gave was blown out of proportion. The wise writer King Solomon says “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10.

In other words, we always accomplish more and work more effectively when we have someone supportive of our ventures working with us. I am a former bid whist player and from what I remember about the game; when you were dealt a bad hand, if you had the right partner; together you could go to Boston! In other words, you could be a big winner even though the hand that you were dealt wasn’t very good. In the same way, in life, you may have been dealt what appears to be an unfavorable hand. When you join forces and receive Jesus Christ as your partner; you will go further than Boston (as the game says). You will make it to heaven and enjoy the journey! Praise God! That’s the Truth! The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10. What are your thoughts?
