Esteem Others Better Than Yourself

Without the Holy Spirit leading us it would be most difficult to do that.

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of February, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the topic of #HOPE. The Bible says "hope deferred maketh the heart sick." What does that mean? The world oftentimes speaks of hope as wishful thinking, is this the same hope the bible teaches? Stay connected to learn more.

"And hope maketh not ashamed, and the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Romans 5:5

Hope February 27, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

A person that is drowning needs someone who has the expertise to pull them from danger. A person trapped in a fire would be grateful to be rescued by a fireman. A person who is sick, and needs emergency surgery is going to be content with having a surgeon who has an impressive resume in the medical field needed to perform it. What do all three of these scenarios have in common? The Bible says” Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. ”Philippians 2:3.

We should always consider other first according to the Word of God, but without the Holy Spirit leading us it would be most difficult to do that. None of these people in a perilous situation could care less about the color, culture, or creed of the person helping them. They're in dire need and if you haven't been there yet keep living! You may be on the other end of the spectrum and be in a position to help someone. You may not be a first responder: a lifeguard, a fireman, or a surgeon, but you can throw out a life floater, seek help, and you can always pray. Prayer can give hope to the hopeless. If a person has no hope there's no life.

A Pastor was on his way home from Church and saw a person lying in the street and apparently injured. After pulling over he walked up to the scene and immediately bent down praying over the man with the serious injuries. The man wasn't able to respond, but his wife and family members expressed their gratitude to the Pastor for stopping to pray. It gave them the assurance that God cares, and it also gave them hope! "And hope maketh not ashamed, and the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us." Romans 5:5. What are your thoughts?
