“ And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.” Hebrews 9:22

Honor: October 14, 2022 By Dr. George Bing

A living sacrifice is a human being who says with their actions, that they're living for Christ. Attending Church is good, but technically it's only a good start. Just because a person attends Church, doesn't mean that they're a living sacrifice for Jesus. To sacrifice means to give up something you value. A real sacrifice you’re going to feel it. In the Old Testament also known as the Old Dispensation, the Jewish people made animal sacrifices. May it have been a ram, bull, or pigeons; the animal’s life was the ransom that was paid. Those sacrifices did not and were not able to move off of the altar. “And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without the shedding of blood there is no remission.” Hebrews 9:22.

A living sacrifice can and will experience uncomfortable circumstances at times. That is a part of the sacrifice. Yes, and all that will live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” II Timothy 3:12. So how can you be a living sacrifice? The latter clause of the Scripture in Romans 12 clarifies it. It reads "holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." To be holy is to have a mind like God. When we attend Church we hear the Word, but how much is digested and applied is what makes us holy. “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy Word is Truth.” John 17:17.

There is a renewing of the mind that takes place as the Holy Spirit sanctifies us. You begin to look at things from a different perspective. There's a conviction when you do or say anything wrong. Even when you put on inappropriate clothing; there will be a prompting of the Spirit. This process can only begin and continually run its course when we honor God. It is so wonderful to have a Savior who loves you enough to constantly guide us back on track. “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2. What are your thoughts?
