"But if you would just speak the Word of healing from right where you are, I know that my servant will be healed" (Luke 7:7).

In today's Daily Devotional, we will continue our discussion on the magnificent name of Jesus Christ and His incredible ability to bring healing. As we mentioned yesterday, the Lord employs various methods to bring about healing, as recorded in scripture. In yesterday's Daily Devotional, we specifically focused on the remarkable account of Jesus Christ speaking the Word to heal a servant of a Roman captain.

The Roman captain demonstrated great faith and humility in his approach to the Lord. He did not even feel worthy of Jesus coming under his roof or for the captain to come out to meet him. This was a man of great authority, yet he was able to adhere to protocol when it came to being in the presence of someone with great authority. More on this later. The Roman captain also demonstrated great faith by saying, "But if you would just speak the Word of healing from right where you are, I know that my servant will be healed" (Luke 7:7).

The Roman captain operated according to the Word of God by speaking it into existence before it came to fruition. The Apostle Paul, when speaking about Abraham's belief in his promised son Isaac before he was born, says, "(as it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were" (Romans 4:17). Because of the Roman captain's humble disposition and great faith, the Lord responded accordingly. The Bible says, "And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick" (Luke 7:10).

Do you feel worthy of the Lord Jesus Christ coming under your roof? Are you humbled by the fact that He is willing to heal you simply by calling on Him? In present-day times, this is how the Lord Jesus Christ heals us when we are sick. He speaks the Word and sends healing through His angels on assignment. "He sent His Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction" (Psalm 107:20). What are your thoughts?
