When you think about weapons; more than likely you envision something that's going to cause harm and yesterday we discussed the tongue and began sharing about its power of it and the damage that it can cause. We will continue on the subject of this weapon that we call the tongue. The Bible says “Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.” James 3:4. In other words, it is a small gadget that controls a massive structure such as a ship, and yet it has the capability to guide it wherever it desires to go. In the same way, the tongue is a small member of an apparatus that can lead the person that possesses it in the right or wrong direction in life. The Wise writer King Solomon said, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:21.

What the wise writer is saying is that the more we talk; the better chance there is that we will say something that will be offensive to someone. It’s always a good practice to be disciplined in our commenting on anything. “Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: And he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.” Proverbs 17:28. The old adage that “An empty wagon makes a lot of noise, but a loaded wagon doesn’t make much noise.” That is a true saying. Today is also known as tax day and normally barring an extension given is the very last day of the year to pay the taxes we owe without penalty. Jesus Christ paid the penalty for all of our sins and he wants us to love one another. We can start by not allowing evil words against others to come from our tongues. The Apostle Paul says “Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another have fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:8. What are your thoughts?
