Honor: October 27, 2022, By Dr. George Bing

How many athletes do you see looking into the camera saying "hi mom! "I'm sure that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why. The players take advantage of the opportunity to salute or honor the woman who carried them for nine months! “CHILDREN, Obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honor thy Father and Mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long the on the earth.” Ephesians 6:1-3.

The old adage says a mother can raise ten children, but ten children can't take care of one mother. Some people put their mothers in nursing facilities and have the means to take care of them. Some people after putting them in a nursing home rarely even visit them! This is not limited to the woman who carried and birthed us. Some people were raised by a woman who might be the only mother that is known to them. How can anyone do that to the woman who brought them into the world?

Even a mother who may have come into your life because of remarriage by our dad. She may not be your natural mother, but once your dad said “I do” this lady officially becomes your Stepmother as she steps into the well-respected position as a mother! We must honor her or any other mother figure such as God Mothers and Grandmothers as well.” Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7.

If you have the opportunity to take your mother in when she doesn't have a living husband that's capable of caring for her, I will honor her by doing it. If she must be admitted into the hospital, nursing facility, or rehabilitation center; you should visit as often as possible. We won't always have the wonderful opportunity to honor them while they're living! “The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.” Proverbs 15:33. What are your thoughts?
