As James 1:15 states, "When lust has conceived, it brings forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death."

Yesterday, we delved into the tale of Balak, the king of Moab, and Balaam, a sorcerer, and prophet infamous for his ability to cast curses upon others. Balak, fearing the Israelites who had arrived in the plains of Moab, sought to hire Balaam to curse them. This was a wicked plan, as Balak knew that God's people posed a threat to him and his people. To execute his plan, Balak dispatched messengers to Pethor, where Balaam lived.

In his message, Balak offered to pay Balaam for his services, knowing that the sorcerer would be tempted by the financial gain, even though he knew it was wrong. This is a reminder that the enemy is always seeking ways to lure us into ungodly actions, and what may seem profitable to us will ultimately lead to a loss of fellowship with God. Isaiah 59:2 says, “but your iniquities have separated between and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that he will not hear. Although God is speaking, His voice falls on deaf ears and you can’t hear him.

Balaam, the sorcerer and prophet, advises the messengers sent by King Balak to spend the night with him and await his response the next day. Balaam seeks guidance from the Lord during the night and informs the messengers the following morning that he cannot accompany them. Balak, upon receiving this news, becomes even more desperate to have Balaam curse the Israelites and offers him a larger sum of money. Will Balaam choose the truth or face the consequences? As James 1:15 states, "When lust has conceived, it brings forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death." What are your thoughts?
