Call Upon the Lord in Times of Trouble

The Word of God instructs us to turn to our source of strength, which is Jesus Christ.

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

As the wise writer King Solomon states in Ecclesiastes 7:8, "Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit."

Yesterday, we started discussing a sensitive and uncomfortable subject for some people - the temptation to end one's life prematurely. It is crucial to remember that the Bible states in Hebrews 9:27, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Death is inevitable for everyone unless we are raptured upon Jesus' initial return. It is important to be aware that God has a specific appointed time for each of us to leave this world. It is never our place to take on the role of God and make the decision to end our own lives. That is not an option that should be considered.

Yesterday, we acknowledged the facts that many of us may have faced - being hurt by someone, being lied to, or not receiving the same love in return. However, even in the face of these hurts, the Word of God instructs us to turn to our source of strength, which is Jesus Christ. As stated in Hebrews 4:16, "Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

When we call upon the Lord in times of trouble, He not only hears us but also answers us. Sometimes, God chooses to work through people who have surrendered themselves to His call. Elizabeth Powell was one of those exceptional individuals who was placed on this earth for a brief period to be a source of help to others. During the time I spent drawing close to her, she shared many valuable insights with me. She was not only a mother figure to me but also others. Yes, she answered the phone that day, and from my understanding, she shared her wisdom with the young man who needed guidance. Indeed, in this life, some individuals can be cruel and harbor hidden agendas to harm and destroy others. However, we can find solace in knowing that there are also people like Mother Elizabeth Powell who were placed here, even for a short time, to expose the schemes of the devil.

How often have we faced challenging circumstances, only to find that as the trial or sickness ran its course, the outcome turned out to be better than we could have ever imagined? As the wise writer King Solomon states in Ecclesiastes 7:8, "Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit." Taking one's own life is an act of pride, as it assumes control over a life that ultimately belongs to God. It is important to remember that patience and trust in God's plan can lead to outcomes that surpass our initial expectations. What are your thoughts?
