"A soft answer turneth away raft, but grievous words stir up anger!" Proverbs 15:1

Holy Spirit, March 23, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

The subject of peace is so broad that we will expound on it today. The fruit of the Spirit are love, joy, peace. Peace is what everyone so desires to have in life. Even people who are frustrated and purposely cause confusion in the lives of others want peace. They cause conflict because they don't have peace in their lives, and misery loves company! Don't get caught up in the web of deception by promoting an argument; "A soft answer turneth away raft, but grievous words stir up anger! Proverbs 15:1.

The Holy Spirit always desires peace and He will promote peace everywhere you go. You can ride in a car and see someone fighting, and He will have you praying for peace. You can walk outside of your home and hear people using profane language, and the Holy Spirit will lead you to speak peace in the midst of confusion. You can know that you're right in a disagreement that if it continues will end up in an argument, and the Holy Spirit will say: be quiet! This is the beginning of what David was speaking about when he said "seek peace and pursue it!" Psalms 34:14. Jesus Himself said, "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God." Matthew 5:9.

A person pursuing peace is demonstrating the character of Christ that He calls one of God's children. Every child reflects at least some of his or her father’s characteristics. You also have peace of mind. Once you pray about something there is peace that you have; because you have consulted the Lord and left it in His Hands. When you study God's Holy Word and meditate on it as David said; your trust in the Lord grows just like a tree as the Spiritual roots of His Word grow deeper down in your heart. "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee; because he trusteth in thee." The eth in trusteth is a present, but continued action, praise God! Isaiah 26:3.
