All of the other fruit lead up to temperance; which is self-control

Everyone in the world has a difficult time conquering something. Most people that are obese have different reasons why they say they got that way. Some will say that their metabolism is slower than other people's. Others will say they're big-boned. Some will even say "the devil made me do it, but he can't make you do anything that you don't allow him to do! The Bible says “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: but every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.” James 1:13-14.
Some people who have bad attitudes will tell you about their rough experiences. They'll tell you how someone who raised them mistreated them or just wasn't there. These are unfortunate incidents that occurred, but they're only excuses! What happens to boil water if you place it in a freezer? It eventually will cool down! What about ice that's placed in a furnace? It too adjusts to the environment that it's placed in! The Apostle Paul warns us saying “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” I Corinthians 15:33. What happens when people make up their minds that they want to lose weight? They certainly won't get a job working at a donut shop! A person who has a problem with alcohol or drugs and wants to get clean will change their environment as well.
So many young people join gangs because they will welcome them like family, and having a bad attitude is a prerequisite for acceptance! The last fruit of the Holy Spirit listed is temperance! It is the bookend to love. All of the other fruit lead up to temperance; which is self-control. Only being in the environment of people who are filled with, and are under the control of the Holy Spirit can help you become more like Jesus Christ. Yes, He is Love and He exhibited all of these other fruit including self-control throughout his earthly life! He faced many temptations but never sinned. Praise God! "For we have not a High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin," Hebrews 4:15. What are your thoughts?
