Yesterday, our Daily Devotional discussion was about my personal concerns regarding giving my heart to Jesus. Many people, and perhaps you, will be brutally honest when asking yourself if you have or had concerns about what God would ask of you. What would the cost be? Will life become boring? I, too, had those concerns. What would I have to sacrifice? No more partying? No intercourse before marriage? Being labeled as a holy roller is what people called it back then, and I didn't want to be associated with such a label.
I wanted to be cool and fit in with others at some point because I was always timid anyway. I might have ended up like a salamander. We see them regularly here in Central Florida, especially during the hot summer. They run around in areas where they shouldn't be, and it's obvious because when they get caught, they change colors to blend in with their surroundings, just like when we get caught in sin. People in the world who are afraid to stand out by giving their hearts to Jesus often choose to blend in with their surroundings and the people they associate with. However, I have truly learned that "There's no party like the Holy Ghost party because the Holy Ghost party doesn't stop!"
I am honored to do what the Lord has called me to do and I enjoy it more than anything I did when I was enslaved by the enemy, without a true purpose in life. Every believer in the Body of Christ has a ministry. Preaching the word is just one of the many diverse ministries available. Once you receive Jesus and realize that He knows you and your passions better than you ever will, you will never be bored! Hallelujah! "Oh LORD, you have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thoughts afar off." (Psalm 139:1-2). What are your thoughts?
