A Person Who Will Lie Will Steal

This sinful nature is present in all of us from birth.

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

The Apostle Paul states in Romans 3:23, "23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

In today's Daily devotional, we will continue discussing the topic of stealing. Yesterday, I shared a personal incident from my pre-adolescent years when I took a small amount of money from my father's bank but later replaced it. Even though I had the fear of God in me, my father was the authority figure I respected the most at that time. It's important to recognize that the temptation to steal is something that everyone has experienced because we are born with a sinful nature. As the Apostle Paul states in Romans 3:23, "23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Indeed, the inclination towards sin, including stealing and lying, is a result of the Adamic nature inherited from Adam. This sinful nature is present in all of us from birth. During our pre-adolescent years, parents or guardians must train and guide us, teaching us the values of honesty and integrity. However, even with the best training, we may still fall into temptation. This is where the power and presence of the Holy Spirit become essential. The Holy Spirit empowers us to resist temptation and live according to God's commandments. As the Apostle John records in Revelation 3:10, "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth."

Have you ever taken a pen, paper, or other items from your workplace without obtaining permission from your boss or immediate supervisor? Have you ever been in a grocery store and sampled grapes or other fruits without paying for them, possibly resulting in unexpected weight gain? While these scenarios may seem trivial, it is important to acknowledge that they fall under the definition of stealing, which involves the unauthorized taking of property without the owner's permission.

We must be truthful with ourselves and not allow the enemy to deceive us into believing that such actions are harmless. My grand aunt said, “Lil George, a person who will lie will steal.” 1 Corinthians 10:12, says, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall“. What are your thoughts?
