The Bible says “Even so the tongue is a small member and boasteth great things." James 3:5

In this life, we all were made in God’s image and likeness and have been blessed with the ability to speak with our tongues. From our conception, the great Psalmist of Israel King David says "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Psalms 51:5. In other words, we all were born with an Adamic nature to sin, and that’s why we have to be taught good morals by our guardians. Parents have the awesome responsibility to train their children during the adolescent stage not to take something that belongs to someone else; without asking. That is stealing.

In the words of my grand Aunt Frank “A person who lies will steal.” Therefore it behooves us to uproot the seed of lying from their vocabulary before a full-grown tree has developed. The Truth needs to be imparted in them as the damage that our tongues can form could be devastating. The Bible says “Even so the tongue is a small member and boasteth great things." James 3:5. God gave us two ears and one mouth in His perfectly crafted design of a man. He designed our bodies to listen first and then speak. The reason being is that the tongue boasteth great things, and so it's important for us to think before speaking. James 3:5 The things that the tongue is able to say to others can be offensive.

Many marriages have been torn apart because of something said by one spouse to the other. Do you realize that once it comes out from behind your teeth and lips you can't take it back? Spreading untruthful things about someone could blemish their integrity for life unless the Lord divinely intervenes. Yes, just like a fire on dry land can cause major damage; your tongue has the same capability. It only takes one match that can cause what now is permanent damage. But there's good news, and this isn't a Geico commercial. In less than 15 seconds, the right words from your tongue can cause a person to be saved, praise God! That’s the Truth! "The words of a wise man are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself." Ecclesiastes 10:12. What are your thoughts?
